The Red Cross Society is a worldwide, wellknown, universally accepted, admired and internationally identifiedhumanitarian service organization. It is the biggest, independentnon-religious, non-political, non-sectarian and voluntary relief organization treatingpeople equally all over the world without any discrimination as to theirnationality race and religious beliefs. It was established in 1863 in Geneva,Switzerland. The Father of Red Cross movement and recipient of noble award forpeace in 1901 was “Jean Henry Dunant”, who was a successful businessman.
The Youth Red Cross aims to inspire, encourageand initiate at all times, all forms of humanitarian activities so that humansuffering can be minimized, alleviated and even prevented, thus contribute tocreating a more congenial climate for peace. Youth Red Cross unit members arethe builders of the Nation who take part in bringing the very motto of RedCross, that is, “SERVICE TO SOCIETY”
Principles: YouthRed Cross has the following three principles –
· Protectionof Health and life.
· Service to the Sick andSuffering.
· Promotionof National and International friendship, todevelop the mental and moralcapacities of the Youth.
